Reed Announces Grant for Corning Fire Department
Congressman Tom Reed announced the Corning Fire Department is the recipient of a $169,656 federal grant from the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG).
“We care about making sure that our local fire departments have the equipment they need to protect and serve our communities. This grant will help them carry out their mission,” Reed stated.
The fire department will use the money to update their Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) equipment. This tool is vital to providing fire protection to the citizens and visitors to the City of Corning.
"The City of Corning is very grateful to have been awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant for the replacement of the fire department's Self Contained Breathing Apparatus. Thank you to Congressmen Reed for his assistance and support in securing this essential funding,” said Corning Fire Chief Brad Davies.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program will award approximately $310.5 million directly to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies and nonaffiliated EMS organizations to enhance their response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel with respect to fire and all other hazards.
