Dear Neighbor, This week, we had a MAJOR win for American workers. A bipartisan deal was reached on USMCA – which will bring our trade agreement with Mexico and Canada into the 21st Century, boost jobs all across the United States and will be a deliver relief our dairy farmers and manufacturers. We are proud that the Problem Solvers Caucus was able to put out a statement demanding a swift vote on the USMCA which lead to Speaker Pelosi agreeing to put this trade deal up for a vote in the House ne... Dear Neighbor, This week, we made a big breakthrough for the district, and we wanted to share this great news with you. The Senate recently passed my bill to authorize $75 million a year for the cleanup of West Valley through 2026. For fifteen years, West Valley, NY was a nuclear dumping ground for New York State. This is the first time in 35 years that this cleanup has been reauthorized, and we are glad that it will soon be signed into law by the President. This is great news for the health and... Read more

  • Happy Thanksgiving!
Posted in Weekly Newsletter on November 28, 2019 | Preview rr

Dear Neighbor, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. My family and I spend it reflecting on the blessings that have been received, the many memories we have made and spending time with friends and loved ones. Thanksgiving is one of the few holidays that centers only around the dinner table - not only for the feast, but also the time spent together. It is a day to take a small pause in our busy lives to catch up, to refresh, to relax and refocus on what matters most. I wish you al... Read more

Dear Neighbor, Our Governor is attacking one of the largest utility companies in the state. Earlier this month, Governor Cuomo threatened to revoke the utility company National Grid’s business license if they didn’t start adding more natural gas hookups in New York. This was done despite the fact that National Grid told him that they no longer had an adequate supply of gas in their aging pipelines to provide service to more customers. This leaves hardworking people wondering what would happen du... Read more

Posted in Weekly Newsletter on November 16, 2019 | Preview rr

Dear Neighbor, A question I’ve heard very often during my visits around the district is “When is Washington going to do something about access to farm labor?” Well, the answer, in part, is – now. A portion of Washington is moving to get something done about this issue that is plaguing farmers everywhere across New York State. If you don’t have access to a good workforce, how can the work get done? That is why the Problem Solvers Caucus endorsed and I co-sponsored the Farm Workforce Modernizatio... Read more

Dear Neighbor, I wanted to highlight a huge win we had alongside my friends Reps. Josh Gottheimer, Max Rose and Brian Fitzpatrick. We sent a letter to all social media companies weeks ago asking them to take down terror content. All social media companies responded that they agreed terror content had no place on their platforms and listed the steps they are taking to proactively remove this content. — EXCEPT TWITTER. Twitter said making distinctions between the political arms of terrorist organi... Read more

  • Ensuring Hospice Is Here To Stay
Posted in Weekly Newsletter on November 2, 2019 | Preview rr

Dear Neighbor, Hospice and Palliative care were incredibly important when my mom was facing the end of her life. She was able to receive care that made her comfortable and improved her quality of life right in her own home. These programs, the staff and the volunteers of these programs completely changed my view on death and dying, simply because of the difference it made in my mom’s situation. These services were significant for my mom and our family - and they are just as important to so many ... Read more

Dear Neighbor, Diabetes and access to insulin are very important issues to me since they both have hit very close to home. It is heartbreaking to hear stories about people rationing their insulin or choosing between buying this life-saving drug or paying their bills. Recently, to help remedy this situation, we offered an amendment to Nancy Pelosi’s drug pricing plan which would lower the cost of insulin for people on Medicare Part D by requiring rebates to go directly to people paying for insuli... • Have you thought about a career change?
Posted in Weekly Newsletter on October 19, 2019 | Preview rr

Dear Neighbor, Did you know there are currently more job openings than there are Americans looking for work? Employers are in search of more qualified workers and there are untapped opportunities. We need to start encouraging people to get the skills they needed to fill the good paying jobs employers are desperate to fill. Currently, needs-based Federal Pell Grants are only available to students who enroll in a program of study that requires at least 600 clock hours of instruction over 15 weeks.... Read more

Dear Neighbor, This week I went on a diplomatic trip to Poland to meet with the Polish Prime Minister, President and the cabinet. We praised their commitment to wean themselves off of Russian energy with U.S. natural gas. Poland has signed approximately $33 billion worth of contracts with U.S. firms for delivery of natural gas to the country. When will Governor Cuomo embrace U.S. energy dominance in his own backyard? Other topics we discussed included the importance of rejecting socialism for bu... Read more
