Tom Reed continued his efforts to encourage job creation by announcing 300 new jobs in Horseheads as part of a new program to limit federal bureaucracy and ensure fairness for the American taxpayer. “We care about bringing, quality family sustaining jobs to our region and this is a great step in that direction,” said Reed. “These jobs protect the hardworking taxpayers and help put food on the table for local families. It’s a win-win for the region.”

The contract comes as a proposal, supported by Reed, which modified certain tax provisions, was enacted into law. The Protecting Americans from Tax Hikes (PATH) act allows certain type of tax accounts to be collected using federal contractors.

Navient, in Horseheads, was awarded one of four national contracts related to this effort. The changes are expected to create approximately 300 jobs at the site.

Other contracts were awarded to companies located in Iowa, California and Fairport, NY, near Rochester.

The contract will begin next spring.
