Tom Reed honored Korean War Veterans by supporting a bill that will provide upgrades and improvements to the Korean War Monument in Washington, D.C. “We were care about those who have sacrificed so much for us,” said Reed. “As the son of a Korean War veteran, this is particularly important me. We are privileged to support efforts to improve the memorials in Washington, and hope that these monuments continue to serve as a visible reminder of the real cost of freedom.”

The Korean War Veterans Memorial Wall of Remembrance Act of 2016, which Reed cosponsored, will create a Wall of Remembrance which would list the names of members of the U.S. Armed Forces who were killed in action, wounded, missing in action or prisoners of war during the Korean War. The bill would also allow for the names of members from the Korean Augmentation of the U.S. Army, the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, and other nations under the United Nations Command who were killed, wounded, missing or prisoners of war.

“It’s only right to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of these brave men and women. We must remember these American heroes and honor their legacy. This legislation is an important first step,” said Reed.

Upgrades to the memorial will come at no taxpayer expense; The Korean War Veterans Memorial Foundation, which helps preserve and make any renovations to the memorial, will fund the project.
