Tom Reed met with students from the Finger Lakes Technical Center BOCES Program and the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Academy, as part of his efforts to support training for the jobs of today and tomorrow. “We care about making sure our kids have the skills they need for the jobs of the future. The Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Academy is a great step in that direction and we are proud to offer our support to this program,” said Reed.

Reed toured the center and met with students, teachers and administrators alike to learn more about the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Academy.  The Academy is a two-year program, which is new to the Center this year. The program is designed to expose students to a cross section of different fields including engineering, design principles, machining, welding and fabrication, in order to demonstrate the career possibilities across the spectrum of manufacturing.

“It’s only right to make sure these kids have the best possible chance at success. Together we can encourage job training for the industries that need workers.  High Tech manufacturing is full of quality, family sustaining jobs, in a field that continues to expand and we can help match these students with industry leaders so they can continue to call the Southern Tier home for generations to come,” said Reed.
