Reed: American Families Deserve Fair, Simple Tax Code
Tom Reed continued standing up for families and small businesses by supporting the blueprint to overhaul the American tax code that was unveiled by House Republicans this morning. “We care about lowering taxes for families and encouraging small businesses to create jobs and thrive. The only way that we can ensure this happens is if we develop a fairer and simpler tax code,” said Reed. “Lower taxes mean more quality, family sustaining jobs in our region. Eliminating taxes on exports will bring companies back from overseas and create more jobs and higher wages for working families, which is something we can all support.”
The proposal offers commonsense solutions that will reduce the tax burden on individuals, families and small business owners, while also introducing substantial reforms to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to ensure accountability and a taxpayer focus.
“We hear the frustration of people across New York as they watch their tax dollars go to Washington to fund big, inefficient government while they struggle to make ends meet or grow their businesses. It’s just not right. It’s time to simplify, make government smarter, more efficient and accountable,” said Reed.
The proposal was unveiled by House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX), House Speaker Paul Ryan and the House Republicans as part of ongoing efforts to create a set of comprehensive policy solutions for the biggest problems facing the country.
