Tom Reed announced the Chautauqua Center will receive $350,000 in federal funding to add oral healthcare services to the facility in Dunkirk. “We care about ensuring access to quality healthcare close to home. The grant creates access to types of services that would otherwise be out of reach for many in our communities, so it’s a big win for our region,” said Reed.
The funding will provide basic dental care to those in need. The Chautauqua Center is a federally qualified health center (FQHC), which provides critical medical care where access is otherwise limited.
“The Chautauqua Center Board and staff were very excited to learn that we had been selected as an organization to expand oral health services to the residents of Chautauqua County and its surrounding communities. This grant will allow us to open a new dental program in Dunkirk and serve a large number of residents who do not currently have access to care. We are very appreciative of all of the support we receive from the local, state and federal representatives. In particular, Tom Reed continues to be an advocate of The Chautauqua Center and the services we provide. His support has enabled us to grow to serve more than 6,000 unique patients since opening a little more than three years ago,” said Michael C. Pease, CEO of The Chautauqua Center.
