Tom Reed announces the Waterloo Volunteer Fire Company will be awarded a federal grant through the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. “As a community, we care about demonstrating our appreciation by recognizing the men and women who are committed to keeping us safe,” said Reed. “These individuals devote hours of hard work to protect us and it is only right we give them the resources they need to do their jobs.”
Waterloo Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. will receive a $33,889 grant to upgrade the fire fighting hoses to a larger size. The larger hoses can help combat aggressive fires in rural areas.
“The fire department would like to thank the office of Tom Reed for their assistance. The grant program will allow us to upgrade our fire department without placing an additional burden on our tax payers in a time of limited resources," said Mark Shaw, Assistant Chief of Waterloo Fire Company, Inc.
