Tom Reed announces the New Hudson Fire Company will be awarded a federal grant through the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to replace outdated safety equipment. “We care about those who put themselves in harm’s way for our benefit, especially our fire fighters and emergency services personnel,” said Reed. “These individuals devote their lives to protecting us and it is only right we give them the resources they need to keep themselves safe in that process.”

The New Hudson Fire Company will receive a $67,926 grant that will be used for equipment upgrades, including new turnout gear. Turnout gear is the protective clothing worn by firefighters when combating a blaze.

“The department is very appreciative of this funding, which will be used for turnout gear. We would like to thank Congressman Reed for his continued support,” said Ricky White Jr. of the New Hudson Fire Company.
