Tom Reed announces the Westons Mills Fire Department will be awarded a federal grant through the Department of Homeland Security in cooperation with the U.S. Fire Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency to replace outdated safety equipment. “We care about those who put themselves in harm’s way for our benefit, especially our fire fighters and emergency services personnel,” said Reed. “These individuals devote their lives to protecting us and it is only right we give them the resources they need to keep themselves safe in that process.”
The Westons Mills Fire Department will receive a $149,553 grant that will be used for 22 new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) air packs, masks and air tanks.
“We are using this funding to purchase 22 SCBA units and bail out systems. The department would not be able to afford to replace this outdated equipment without this grant. We would like to thank Congressman Reed for his continued support ,” said Will Smith of the Westons Mills Fire Department.
