Tom Reed announced the Village of Painted Post will receive a $52,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture’s office of Rural Development for the purchase of new Road Maintenance Equipment. “We care about ensuring our local towns are able to maintain their roads and bridges adequately. Its only right that we stand with them in this process,” said Reed.

The grant comes as part of larger finance package for the Village which includes a $60,200 loan, $15,000 down payment, and a $22,000 equipment trade-in for the total purchase cost of $149,200.

“We’re very pleased. We were more fortunate than expected. Without this grant, the purchase of this equipment would have definitely been delayed. We also would not have been able to purchase two pieces of equipment. I just want to say we’re thankful to the congressman and his staff for helping this work out,” said Larry Smith, Superintendent of the Painted Post Department of Public Works.
