Ithaca, NY – Congressman Tom Reed announces that Cornell University is the recipient of a $263,937 grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant will benefit the Upward Bound program which aids high school students from low-income backgrounds and students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree.
“We care about making sure that all students who want to, can attend college regardless of their background. This grant will help make higher education a reality for many people looking to go to college,” Reed stated.
Upward Bound is part of a cluster of programs referred to as TRIO which is designed to provide services for students from disadvantaged backgrounds looking to attend college. Reed previously announced the first round of funding for this year in May.
