Congressman Tom Reed announced the Wayland Joint Fire District, Bath Volunteer Fire Department, and the Community Fire and Rescue are the recipients of federal grant money from the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG).
“We care about making sure that our local fire departments are able to purchase the equipment they need to properly protect and serve our communities. This grant will help them achieve this,” Reed stated.
The departments received the grants for the following amounts:
Wayland Joint Fire District - $140,286 (Steuben County)
Bath Volunteer FD - $19,048 (Steuben County)
Community Fire and Rescue - $46,239 (Chemung County)
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program will award approximately $310.5 million directly to fire departments, State Fire Training Academies and nonaffiliated EMS organizations to enhance their response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel with respect to fire and all other hazards.
