Reed Announces Grant for Dix Water District
Congressman Tom Reed announced that the Appalachian Regional Commission has approved a $56,400 grant to the Town of Dix for the Dix Water District Improvement project.
"This grant helps ensure that residents and businesses in the Town of Dix have access to clean water. Additionally, the grant will also improve infrastructure in the community positively impacting Project Seneca and the business park,” Reed said.
The grant will support the installation of an aeration device and three booster pumps in the Town's water system in order to reduce the presence of potentially carcinogenic disinfectant by-products. The three booster pumps will also make future business development in the area viable by increasing the water system's capacity by 0.14 million gallons per day
“This investment from ARC is helping to leverage a $241,000 project, which will benefit an inter-municipal water project that serves Watkins Glen International, the KOA Campground, and the Schuyler County Business Park and its shared wine production facility,” said Town Supervisor Harold Russel.
