I had the pleasure of hosting our 4th Annual Manufacturing Summit this past month. This Summit was the largest since ever and included:
A tour to Hornell site of Alstom. The site has been in operation for 160 years and specializes in the building and refurbishing of passenger rail trains that currently employs over 750 people.
And informational panels to help manufacturers grow and expand on topics such as:
Revitalizing American Manufacturing
Bringing Skills To The Workforce
Representation in Washington That Works For You
I am happy to see our annual Manufacturing Summit grow year after year. I gathered a sense of optimism with all who attended the summit and am hopeful that connections were made to spur growth in our region.
Coinciding with our Manufacturing Summit, I had the honor to co-host with Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Faith & Politics Institute for a political pilgrimage focused on social reforms in Central New York.
The three day pilgrimage included:
Welcome at the National Abolition Hall of Fame
Narrated Experience of Gerrit Smith Estate
Tour of Harriet Tubman Home and National Historical Park
Narrated Experience of the William Seward House Museum
Guided experience at the Women’s Rights National Historical Park
A Living History Discussion with Scholars at the Wesleyan Chapel
A historian speaker at the National Women’s Hall of Fame
Memorial Service honoring former Congresswoman Louise Slaughter
The days allowed me to reflect, grow and take into account our history. I am motivated to work bipartisanly with my colleagues to make life better for New Yorkers and our nation.
