Rep. Tom Reed toured Air Methods facility and learned more about the care and resources air medical professionals invest to ensure 24-7-365 readiness for those faced with an emergency.

“We care about those in our community who are in need of immediate assistance from an accident and want to ensure they have a fair shot at life saving care,” Tom said. “We are happy to support the Ensuring Access to Air Ambulance Services Act to make sure these services can continue to help people in need.”

“LifeNet of New York is grateful for Congressman Reed's leadership on legislation that addresses the Medicare reimbursement shortfall, in a nationwide effort to protect access to lifesaving services for all Americans," Communications Director for Air Methods Christina White said. "Emergency air medical services are a critical part of our health care delivery system in upstate New York, and our crews are ready to deploy 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year.

"We are honored to have Congressman Reed visit the LifeNet base in Hornell today, to meet the men and women who work so hard on the front lines to care for this community and our patients," Ward concluded.

Tom had candid conversations with crew members and air medical professionals about their jobs and how they care for people who are in critical need of assistance every day. Tom had an opportunity to have a hands on experience with the technology used on base and in a medical helicopter.

Tom cosponsored the Ensuring Access to Air Ambulance Services Act (H.R.3378) which addresses the reimbursement shortfall, preserves access to air medical services and brings rationality to the payment system. The bill also provides an update to the payment system and transparency for how much these services cost.
