Rep. Tom Reed announced a $150,000 grant to Corning Community College for the Manufacturing Technology Advancement Project.
“We care about developing our workforce, and the Manufacturing Technology Advancement Project will give trainees a fair chance at higher positions and wages,” Tom said. “I applaud Corning Community College for the desire to enhance their programs and ensure a state-of-the-art facility is available to our community.”
The grant will provide Corning Community College with the laboratory space and state-of-the-art equipment to implement active learning simulator technology, collaborative learning with peers and training programming that will meet the demands of the manufacturing industry.
"This grant empowers SUNY Corning Community College to prepare a 21st century workforce with the requisite talents to stimulate growth and expansion in Advanced Manufacturing in the Southern Tier," President of SUNY Corning Community College, Dr. Katherine P. Douglas said. "With the resources, laboratory spaces will be transformed with cutting edge, on-trend manufacturing equipment and technology that will train students in certificate and degree programs to meet critical and strategic regional workforce needs."
