Reed Champions U.S. ManufacturingRecognizes October 7 as National Manufacturing DayTom Reed continued to champion U.S. manufacturing jobs by offering a resolution to recognize October 7 as National Manufacturing Day. “We care about bringing quality, family sustaining jobs to our region and across the nation,” said Reed. “U.S. manufacturing jobs, particularly, advanced manufacturing, are critical to that process. It’s only right that we recognize the value of domestic manufacturing and encourage others to do the same.” Reed introduced the resolution which recognizes October 7 as National Manufacturing Day in Congress on September 15. In Reed’s district alone, almost 44,000 people are employed in the manufacturing field. Nationally, 9 percent or 12.33 million workers are in the employed in this field, which contributes over 2.17 trillion to the U.S. economy annually. “This Manufacturing Day, we are opening our shop floors to the best and brightest young minds, and showcasing modern manufacturing for what it is – a technology-driven industry. Manufacturing offers secure, good-paying careers ranging from engineers and designers to marketers and executives. And, most importantly, if offers the chance to develop products that will change the world and improve the human condition. We appreciate the efforts of Representatives Tom Reed and Tim Ryan as Co-Chairs of the House Manufacturing Caucus in recognizing the many contributions that modern manufacturers make to our economy and community,” said Jay Timmons, President and CEO, National Association of Manufacturers. “These jobs put food on the table, roofs over the heads of families and create a brighter future for kids everywhere. That’s why we remain committed to standing with the American work ethic and the dignity that comes from an honest day’s work,” Reed concluded. To watch Reed’s remarks on the House floor click here.
