Have you read the news?
With August in full swing, we just wanted to take a moment to highlight some of the events we have participated in.
We hosted our 5th Annual Manufacturing Summit with a tour of Bucher Emhart Glass in Big Flats and headed off to our workshops at Greater Southern Tier BOCES in Elmira. This year, our theme was about GROWTH. Growing our workforce, making the most of tax breaks, and exploring new technology are just some of the topics that were covered by industry experts. Year after year, we see a growth in our participation and this year was no different. We had over 150 local manufacturers attend and have the opportunity to connect with each other.
SPIRIT OF ENTERPRISE
Continuing with our manufacturing theme, we stopped by ITT Gould Pumps in Seneca Falls, toured their facility and sat down to chat about issues that matter to their business. We were honored to be presented the Spirit of Enterprise Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The award recognizes members of Congress who have voted for pro-growth policies and we will continue to put small business owners’ interests in mind.
KIDS, KIDS, AND MORE KIDS!
On our journey to our western most part of our district, we had the opportunity to participate in a very exciting hour of story time at the Cuba Library! We sang songs, read stories and had a great time with local children.
We continued our journey, landing at the Bemus Point Inn where we met with kids who have Type 1 diabetes. We discussed the obstacles they face everyday and shared stories. As a father of a Type 1 diabetic, this issue hits home and I can relate to the frustrations parents and kids experience. I appreciate their perspective and will continue to fight for people to ensure they have fair access to the resources necessary to fight this disease.
