Getting Ready for Take Off: Tom on the Job at Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport
Today, Rep. Tom Reed went on the job with Evans Roofing at the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport to see renovations, funded by federal grants, currently underway to improve the safety and efficiency of the airport.
“Airports are an important driver for our regional economy and a vital part of our national transportation infrastructure,” Tom said. “We care about the travelers who want to visit the Finger Lakes region and ensure they arrive safely. We are impressed by the amount of work that has taken place and look forward to visiting again when the renovations are complete.”
“We were honored to have Tom Reed visit our jobsite at the Ithaca Regional Airport project. It’s great to see a member of congress interested in speaking to his constituents in their work environment and truly understanding the talent, character and integrity of our workforce,” said Evans Roofing President, Bill Fischer.
“Representative Reed was instrumental in securing Federal funding for the Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport Terminal renovation and expansion project. It is terrific that he visited today, to review our progress and thank the many workers from the 23rd District for their hard work, bringing this project to fruition!” said Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport Director, Mike Hall.
“We greatly appreciate Congressman Reed’s ongoing support of our Ithaca Tompkins Airport expansion project,” said Tompkins County Administrator Jason Molino. “This project will be truly transformational for our airport, enhancing Tompkins County’s role as one of the most vibrant and diverse communities in New York State.”In May 2019, the Department of Transportation awarded the Ithaca-Tompkins Regional Airport a $9.9M grant for its Terminal Expansion and Rehabilitation project. This grant was a part of the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) Grants program and funds airport infrastructure projects such as runways, taxiways, airport signage, airport lighting, and airport markings.
