Reed Delivers Grant To Corning Community College
Today, Rep. Tom Reed announced a $150,000 grant for Corning Community College’s STEAM Innovation Center. This project will train 25 workers and 20 students for new or enhanced employment.
The project will provide state-of-the-art electrical and hydraulic learning systems, hands-on learning stations modeling real-world components, and teaching technology resources to deliver training and education that will help students meet the current demands of today’s manufacturing industry.
“We care about the community of Corning and this grant will help enrich students’ opportunities in manufacturing and will enhance their futures,” Tom said. “This is an important development at Corning Community College and we look forward to the benefits that will come from it.”
"This grant will shift our efforts into high gear, helping us to ensure that our regional partners in advanced manufacturing have the talented workforce they need," said Dr. William P. Mullaney, President of SUNY Corning Community College. "We are grateful for the resources, the opportunities provided by our collaboration with the Appalachian Regional Commission, and we look forward to working with the ARC in the future as we bring our STEAM Innovation Center fully online."The Appalachian Regional Commission is an economic development agency of the federal government and 13 state governments that focuses on 420 counties in the Appalachian region.
