OLEAN, NY – Today, Rep. Tom Reed announced a $125,000 grant for the Healthy Cattaraugus County Coalition which will be used for drug and substance abuse prevention efforts in the area. The Healthy Cattaraugus County Coalition is a part of Council on Addiction Recovery Services in Cattaraugus County.
The grant was announced by the Office of National Drug Control Policy.

“Combating drug and alcohol abuse begins with education and prevention efforts,” said Tom. “We care about battling these issues in every helpful way possible. This grant will empower this program and will enhance their services to this community.”

“This funding will support the Healthy Cattaraugus County coalition,” said Rachel Linderman, director of Prevention Services for the Council on Addiction and Recovery Services. “The coalition’s primary goal is to reduce adolescent substance use, particularly alcohol and marijuana in Cattaraugus County. In our first five years of funding, we worked to increase collaboration between community agencies, schools, law enforcement, faith-based communities and others around the primary goal. These next five years, we hope to be able to continue to collaborate and further reduce adolescent substance use with additional marketing, community projects as well as advocacy and policy change in our country. We know that wen communities come together around any issue, we are more likely to make successful change.”
