Rep. Tom Reed issued the following statement on the passing of Congressman Sam Johnson:

"Sam Johnson was an American hero with no equal and his remarkable life of service to our great nation will never be forgotten. It was a true honor and privilege to have served alongside him on the Ways and Means Committee as he chaired the Social Security Subcommittee. There were few like him before he joined this earth and there may never be another soul as dedicated to fighting for the values of this country as he was. My heart goes out to the Johnson family during this difficult time."
