WESTON MILLS, NY – Rep. Tom Reed is proud to announce a recent grant from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to the Weston Mills Fire District. The grant for $1,876 will be used as a reimbursement for equipment and products purchased due to COVID-19.

“COVID-19 has forced many first responders and other vital institutions, such as Westons Mills Fire District, to cover unexpected expenses,” said Tom. “These critical funds will be used to help keep the fire district up and running as they continue to serve the community.  We care about the safety and security of our constituents and our fire fighters, and will continue to ensure they have fair access to the funds and resources they need.”

Westons Mills Fire Chief William Smith said “The funds will be used for reimbursement for supplies purchased during COVID-19. We were going to have to cut our budget since this was an unexpected expense, so this helps us get rid of that unexpected budget line item. This really helps us a lot.”

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant program was founded in 2001 to meet the needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations. For more information, visit
