Reed Lauds Dresser-Rand Award in Olean, Wellsville
Rep. Tom Reed said Dresser-Rand’s Olean and Wellsville facilities will soon see a production influx, with the manufacturer’s announcement today that it received a project award from Apex Compressed Air Energy Storage, LLC to manufacture key components for a new Texas-based compressed air energy storage (CAES) facility.
“Dresser-Rand’s $200 million contract is great news for the Wellsville and Olean communities,” Reed said. “The decision to have facility equipment manufactured here in our district speaks volumes to both the local workforce and our manufacturers’ reputation as industry leaders. This local investment opens the door for future awards in our community and also brings to light the importance of investing in energy infrastructure.”
CAES, a power storage and generation technology aimed at providing for emerging grid and power market needs, represents a low-cost solution to energy storage. The technology provides facilities with an alternative that meets air emissions requirements and works to promote an “all-of-the-above” energy strategy.
