House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-TX) today announced that Tom Reed has been appointed to the Subcommittee on Courts, Commercial and Administrative Law and the Subcommittee on Intellectual Property, Competition, and the Internet. Reed will serve on these subcommittees during the 112th Congress.
“I appreciate the trust shown in me by Chairman Smith in making these appointments,” Reed commented. “The protection of intellectual property and the oversight of the FCC in relation to its overzealous attempt to regulate the internet, are top priorities. It’s also critically important that local law enforcement has the necessary tools to combat crime. Seats on these two subcommittees will ensure that small cities and rural areas have a voice in these policy areas.”
Congressman Reed’s subcommittee assignments for his other committee, Transportation and Infrastructure, are expected to be announced soon.
